Zoom is a meeting and communications utility providing real-time online learning and student-teacher/student-student interaction.

The Zoom meeting room enables students to “raise their hands” to ask questions, answer instructor questions using a voting system, and carry on a group discussion much like a telephone conference call. Any user may share his/her screen (or designated discrete windows) to make presentations, with a full annotation toolbar available to aid in presentation.

All Zoom meetings scheduled through Moodle are automatically recorded and posted to the originating Moodle course for easy retrieval and review.

OUM has integrated Zoom into all aspects of the University from classroom instruction and student study groups to faculty/staff meetings and tutorial sessions. In addition, every OUM user has a full-featured version of Zoom available for their personal use — for chat messaging, video calling, videoconferencing, etc. —  accessible via Single Sign-On managed by eOUM. Student versions of Zoom may be used for one-on-one video calling of unlimited length, while video meetings with 3 or more participants are limited to 40 minutes at a time. Calls may be recorded by the host and saved to a local desktop.

Zoom has an extensive resource center with instructions, illustrations, and video walk-throughs of every Zoom function. If you have any questions or want to learn more visit oum.zoom.us/support.
